TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police responded to a fatal pedestrian accident in midtown Sunday morning.
Tucson police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred near 22nd Street and Longfellow Avenue just before 8:00 a.m. Sunday, according to Sgt. Chris Widmer with the Tucson Police Department.
Widmer tells KGUN9 that 80-year-old Hai T. Ting was headed northbound on 22nd Street when the driver of a 1993 Nissan Pickup truck was headed westbound on 22nd Street.
Ting stepped into the westbound lane of traffic, in front of the Nissan pickup truck, according to Widmer.
Widmer says emergency medical personnel transported Ting to the hospital where died. The driver and passenger of the Nissan pickup truck did not sustain injuries.
Traffic detectives did not find drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision, and no citations were issued, Widmer said.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and the roadway, near 22nd Street and Alvernon Way, is now open, according to Widmer.
