TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A hiker had to request medical assistance after his fellow hiker became dehydrated near the Sabino Canyon trail head.
Southern Arizona Search and Rescue volunteers and Pima County Sheriff's Deputies are assisting a 30-year-old hiker out of Sabino Canyon after the hiker became severely dehydrated, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
Peine tells KGUN9 that the hiker was on the trail near the area of Hutch's Pool with two other people, one of which called 9-1-1 when the hiker began vomiting.
Customs and Border Patrol attempted to respond to the dehydrated hiker via helicopter, but ware unable to land due to the rough terrain.
The helicopter crew then requested a Blackhawk helicopter, which carries emergency medical technicians on board, according to Peine.
EMT's plan to transfer the hiker to the hospital this evening.
