Sun Tran riders to experience detours, delays for weekend events
Web Producer: Taylor Higgins
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Sun Tran riders can expect minor delays from Sunday's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the St. Patrick's Day parade.
The St. Patrick's Day parade, which begins at Stone Avenue at 10:00 a.m. and ends around 5:00 p.m. at Armory Park, will create detours at Routes 8 and 23 in downtown Tucson, according to Kandi Young, communications manager for Sun Tran.
The City of Tucson's Bicycle Classic event will create a detour near Pima Community College's West Campus beginning at 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
Young tells KGUN9 that Speedway Blvd. will be closed between Silverbell Road and Greasewood Road. Passengers can board at all stops on Silverbell and Anklam roads during the detour.
Finally, the 2013 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event will create detours on routes 9, 15 and 20 starting at 5:00 a.m. Sun Tran will be unable to serve the bus stop on the UA Mall, but passengers will be able to access temporary bus stops on Campbell Avenue and Third Street, according to Joseph.
Signs will be posted at all discontinued bus stops, but passengers can also visit the Sun Tran website to view a list of the temporary detours.
For more information, call Sun Tran's Customer Service Center at (520) 792-9222 or 520-628-1565 for people with TDD equipment.
