Activists protest deportation of Phoenix father

PHOENIX (AP) - Activists are fighting the potential deportation of a Phoenix father who was recently released from detention because of federal budget cuts.
The Arizona Dream Act Coalition is scheduled to protest the potential deportation of Moises Navarrete Torres Thursday outside the Phoenix office of Democratic U.S. Rep. Ed Pastor.
Activists say Navarrete should be allowed to stay in the United States with his family. They say he was arrested in January while on the way to pick up his children.
Activists claim he was released in February when federal immigration officials released thousands of detainees because of budget cuts.
