TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Training has begun for Northwest Fire District's Ironwood Hotshot team and the seasonal wildland firefighters to prepare for the upcoming wildfire season.
Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire tells KGUN9 that the team of 22 firefighters began training Monday and meet every day at 7:00 a.m.
Training includes physical fitness, classroom and hands on exercises that will prepare them for when they get called out to local and national fires.
The Ironwood Hotshots were called out to dozens of assignments last season. They were deployed for more than 155 days.
