PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A 22-year-old man has died as a result of a hit-and-run accident.

Deputy Tom Peine with Pima County Sheriff tells KGUN9 the body of Jacob Lee Wyckoff was found in the 15400 block of north Twin Lakes in Catalina Tuesday morning.

Investigators have determined Wyckoff was walking on the eastbound shoulder of Twin Lakes when a truck heading southbound hit the man, Peine says.

Deputies arrested 24-year-old Andrew R. Perez after locating his vehicle and seeing damage that was consistent with the hit-and-run.

Peine says investigators determined that Perez was driving a black Ford F150 truck on the dirt shoulder when he hit Wyckoff.

He drove back onto the roadway, but drove back onto the dirt shoulder south of the accident scene and drove through some smaller trees and brush before returning to the road.

Neighbors in the area heard moaning around 9:30 p.m.

Perez was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

Peine says prescription medication may have been a factor.
