Kingman offers a chance to stay out of jail

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Kingman say people sought on outstanding warrants can stay out of jail if they voluntarily appear in municipal court.
The city says it's trying to reduce its 1,500 active misdemeanor warrants.
According to the Kingman Daily Miner, the outstanding warrants are for relatively minor offenses such as failure to appear, failure to pay fines or restitution or failure to comply with other court orders.
The city is publishing the warrants on its website.
Police Sgt. David Reif calls the offer an opportunity for people to make a commitment to take care of business.
The offer is good through April.
