LUKEVILLE , Ariz (KGUN9-TV) - A Phoenix woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with a failed drug-smuggling attempt through the Lukeville Port.

Customs and Border Protection officials tell KGUN9 that officers referred Monica Guaydacan, 23, for additional inspection of her Ford truck when she applied for entry at the border.

During the inspection, a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs in the front bumper.

Officers located 5.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine inside a hidden compartment and elsewhere in the front bumper. The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure.

Guaydacan was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
