Horne says campaign finance law unconstitutional

PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne says a judge should dismiss a campaign-finance case against Horne and an employee of his office because the law being invoked is unconstitutional.
The motion filed by Horne attorney Tim La Sota cites legislative testimony by Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery that the campaign finance law involved in the case has unconstitutional elements.
Horne and his employee are accused in the civil case of illegally coordinating his 2010 election campaign with a so-called independent expenditure group. Horne denies doing that.
A Montgomery spokesman told The Arizona Republic that the office will file a response to Horne's motion.
