TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - One little girl makes her way through a crowd of classmates, all of their hearts full because of her.
You see heart disease took Catherine Smith's dad too soon, right at Christmas.
Catherine turned in more than $2,000, raised in just two weeks, to the American Heart Association. Money she raised on her own--determined not to let heart disease take anyone else.
"I just tried my hardest raising all that money," she said. "Because I want to help my dad because he died and I didn't want them to die too."
So at Acacia Elementary School, celebrating Jump Rope for Heart, an emotional assembly to honor her.
Catherine's mom and brother, there to give her support, cheer her on as she tells us what her dad would say if he was still here today.
"I think he would be really proud of me and he would just have no words," she said.
