BISBEE, Ariz. (AP) - A Cochise County sheriff's spokeswoman says skeletal remains have been discovered in the ruins of a rural home that was discovered burned to the ground.
Spokeswoman Carol Capas says a man spotted his neighbor's burned out home as he was passing by Saturday afternoon and called the sheriff's office. The man wasn't sure if his neighbor had been in the house. He told deputies the fire could have broken out anytime between Wednesday and when it was discovered Saturday.
Responding deputies found the remains in the burned out home. The Pima County Medical Examiner's Office will investigate the cause of death and try to identify the person who died.
Capas says the fire itself is being investigated by the fire marshal from the Sierra Vista Fire Department.
