TUCSON (KGUN 9-TV) - Beginning March 4 the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Hunter Contracting will be obliterating roadway markings in the intersection of Valencia Road and Houghton Road.

This will result in lane restrictions on both Houghton Road and Valencia Road. Tucson Police officers will be present to direct traffic through the area.

Some night work will continue through the next two weeks. This work will take place between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, until the work is completed. This night work will take place at the following locations, one at a time:

  • Civano Boulevard
  • Hoofprint Stables - North of Irvington Road, south of the bridge
  • Seven Generations Way
  • Bilby Road
  • Forest Glen Street
  • Poorman Road

Motorists can expect delays when driving, bicycling, or walking through these work areas during lane restrictions. Business and residential access will be maintained to the extent possible with only short, infrequent closures when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway.

This is a project of the Regional Transportation Authority. The voter-approved, $2.1 billion RTA plan will be implemented through 2026. Details about the full plan can be found at www.RTAmobility.com.

The Regional Transportation Authority has a nine-member board with representatives from local, state, and tribal governments. This project will be managed by the City of Tucson.
