Elder of Quechan Tribe in Yuma area dies at age 70

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - An elder of the Quechan Tribe who was the head bird singer of the Yuma-area tribe has died.
Authorities say Warren Golding Sr. died Monday at age 70.
Funeral counselor Albert Lee of the Funeria del Angel mortuary in Yuma says Golding died of complications from pneumonia.
Daniel Golding says his uncle had been ill and hospitalized for some time.
Tribal president Keeny Escalanti told the Yuma Sun (http://bit.ly/YaoVQH ) that Warren Golding assisted many families by singing traditional songs at funerals, community events and special occasions.
Lyman Golding describes his father as a pillar of the tribe's community who was its lead bird singer for more than 50 years and who taught five generations of bird singers.
