Gem show merchants look to cash in on Russian meteor
Reporter: Cory Marshall
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - You can only imagine what went through the minds of the people in a rural Russian town when an exploding meteor came barreling through the air to earth, Friday morning.
The impact sent shock waves that shattered windows and took down roofs. In Tucson, the shock waves were of a different sort.
"It was scary but I also thought it was cool. It's like if I saw something like that I'd think we were being invaded," Tucson resident April Ouellette told 9OYS's Cory Marshall.
Over at the Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase meteorite merchant, Josh Iesler says curious customers kept business steady through the day.
"Is this kind of a dream for you guys," 9OYS's Cory Marshall asked Iesler.
"Yeah, absolutely. It's what we wait for," Iesler said.
He and business partners won't be waiting any longer. Iseler says they've already looked up plane tickets to the Russian region.
"Now, we're getting ready to go over there and maybe find something," Iesler continued.
