TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – A high demand for elk and pronghorn antelope hunt applications has led the Arizona Game and Fish Department to extend the 2013 application deadline to February 14 at 7 p.m.

The excessive website traffic slowed the application service site down and prevented applicants from accessing or completing the application. Today’s original deadline was stretched to Thursday for both online and paper applications, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

“We’re seeing more than two and a half times the number of applications we received on deadline last year, which shows the passion hunters have for these hunts,” said Jim Paxon, information chief for the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
