TPD: Vehicle collision leaves one pedestrian dead

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, which occurred near the intersection of West Fort Lowell Road and North Castro, around 6:46 p.m., Feb. 11.
In a news release, Sgt. Maria Hawke said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found a 58-year old male suffering from life threatening injuries. Emergency medical personnel from the Tucson Fire Department also responded to the scene of the collision.
The male succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital and was pronounced deceased. Next of kin have not yet been notified.
Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit also responded to the scene of the collision. They collected and examined roadway evidence and learned that a blue 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling westbound on West Fort Lowell when it struck the pedestrian.
There were no streetlights at the incident location and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing. The driver of the vehicle cooperated fully with the investigation. No citations have been issued at this time.
