UPDATE: Pedestrian struck on Ft. Lowell Road, road remains closed

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - An officer on scene following a traffic accident on Ft. Lowell Road has confirmed that a pedestrian was struck.
Tucson police have shut down east and westbound lanes on Ft. Lowell Road, from Castro Avenue to Balboa Avenue following a traffic accident that occurred around 7:45 p.m. Monday.
Sgt. Maria Hawke with the Tucson Police Department says the roadway will be closed for a couple of hours.
Police ask that motorists avoid the area if possible.
