Patio fire damages apartment complex exterior

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Firefighters contained a patio fire to just the exterior of an apartment compex in midtown Monday morning.

Capt. Barrett Baker with Tuscon Fire tells KGUN9 that crews reposnded to an apartment complex in the 2400 block of East Glenn Street.

An off-duty Captain from Tucson Fire was driving on Glenn at the time of the fire and saw the smoke. He was able to grab a green garden hose in close proximity and try to keep the flames from spreading until the first unit arrived.

Crew were able to extinguish the flames quickly and check to ensure the fire did not spread into either apartment.

Four people, three adults and a child, lived in the apartment. They were not home at the time of the fire and were not displaced.

The fire started in the patio area of the ground floor apartment, but it is still undetermined as to what started the fire.
