UAPD, TPD arrest two men after campus robbery

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Campus police worked with Tucson police to arrest two men after a strong-armed robbery. 
 
Detectives from the University of Arizona Police Department assisted Tucson police in serving a search warrant and arresting two men in connection to a strong-armed robbery Friday, according to Sgt. Juan Alvarez with the UA Police Department. 
 
Alvarez first told 9OYS about the strong-armed robbery on Tuesday, February 5. 
 
The incident occurred just before 10:00 p.m. at 1145 East 4th Street. Following the incident, a student told UAPD that he was walking in the bicycle/pedestrian path on the east side of the Marley Building when he was approached by two men. 
 
According to the victim, the men forcibly took personal property from him before fleeing.  
 
Detectives are still investigating the incident. If you have any information that can help police, contact the University of Arizona Police Department or dial 88-CRIME. 
 
The UAPD Crime Prevention Unit urges students and anyone on campus to use the following safety tips to ensure personal safety.
  • Remain alert and aware of your surroundings and the people in your vicinity at all times.
  • Save important phones calls for a later time. Talking on cell phones or using other electronic devices when walking, biking, or driving are distractions and divert your attention away from your surroundings.
  • At night travel in well-lighted areas. Avoid "shortcuts" through dark or deserted areas.
  • Use the buddy system and travel with a group.
  • Utilize ASUA Safe Ride for a free way to travel between UA buildings and lots at night.

  • If you feel threatened or suspect you are being followed, walk toward well-lighted areas where there are people. Call the police immediately!
