TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Flames engulfed a westside mobile home Saturday, displacing a man and his two dogs.
Tucson firefighters responded to a mobile home fire in the 2700 block of North Castro Avenue at around 11:00 a.m. Saturday, according to Capt. Jeff Langejans with the Tucson Fire Department.
Once on scene, crews discovered that the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke, Langejans said. The fire was beginning to spread to a nearby fence and a large tree so crews quickly started to douse the fire.
It took 21 fighters five minutes to put out the fire and none of the responding firefighters were injured.
The owner of the mobile, a 35-year-old man, was asleep at the time the fire started. He and his two dogs were lucky to escape unharmed, but the mobile home was a total loss.
The Southern Arizona Red Cross has responded to assist the resident and his two dogs with food, shelter and clothing.
