NOGALES, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Officers in Nogales arrested two Mexican men Tuesday for attempting to smuggle more than half a million dollars in cocaine and methamphetamine into the U.S.
Officials with the Customs and Border Protection tell KGUN9 that Carlos Ramos Jaramillo and Alvaro Aglaidel Arrellano Carvajal were both arrested in separate incidents Tuesday.
Jaramillo was driving in a Chevrolet sedan when a narcotics canine alerted officers of the drugs. Officers found six packages of meth and four packages of cocaine in a compartment near the gas tank.
Earlier that day, Carvajal was arrested when agents found 12 packages of meth below the windshield of the van he was driving.
Both vehicles and the drugs were seized and the two men were turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
