Traffic stop leads deputies to counterfeit money

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Cochise County Sheriff Deputies have found and traced counterfeit money following a traffic stop.
Cpl. Scott Borgstadt with Sierra Vista Police tells KGUN9 that deputies conducted a traffic stop late last week in the Sierra Vista area.
The traffic stop lead to a seizure of drugs and cash, said Borgstadt. The cash was processed and discovered that all $2800 was counterfeit.
On February 4, deputies traced the money and contacted the individuals from the traffic stop in a Sierra Vista apartment complex.
The United States Secret Service was contacted to assist with the investigation due to the counterfeit currency. A search warrant was served on the apartment of the suspects. Items of evidence were confiscated and processed and arrests are pending with the investigation.
