TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A police officer with the Oro Valley Police Department was cited for misdemeanor theft after officers recovered stolen property from his possession.
Lt. Kara Riley with OVPD tells KGUN9 that officers were investigating a larceny at the Wal-Mart store at the Oro Valley Marketplace on Tuesday when they obtained information that implicated Mario Molina in a separate theft.
OVPD asked the Pima County Sheriff's Department to investigate and investigators met with Molina on Wednesday and recovered stolen property.
Molina is a seven year veteran with the Oro Valley Police Department. He was released from active duty and OVPD has begun an internal investigation into the matter.
