PHOENIX, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV)- The Internal Revenue Service has added Tumblr to their list of platforms, giving the organization a new way to share information with taxpayers.

Tumblr is a social media platform that allows users to access and share text, photos, videos and other information from any device, including smartphones.

People can now use the micro-blogging platform to access helpful tax tips, video and podcasts, Bill Brunson with IRS Media Relations.

"Tax issues touch a wide range of people who use information in many different ways. The IRS Tumblr site provides a new avenue for taxpayers and partner groups to get and share important tax information," said Terry Lemons, IRS Communications Director. "The new Tumblr platform is part of a larger effort at the IRS to get information to taxpayers when and where they want it.

The IRS already uses YouTube and Twitter to share videos and provide updates on tax information, Brunson says.

To find the latest tax information on Twitter, visit @IRSnews or @IRSenEspanol. For job updates, follow @RecruitmentIRS. The Taxpayer Advocate Service's twitter feed is @YourVoiceAtIRS.

The IRS uses social media only to share public information. They wish to remind taxpayers to never post confidential information on social media sites.
