Man arrested after threatening his mother, and then deputies

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday after threatening his mother and telling deputies there was going to be a "show down."
Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that a woman called 911 Friday morning from the 6200 block of North Van Ark Road saying her son Cody Salzman had punched a hole in the wall and threatened to light her car on fire.
She also told dispatchers her son had a machete and a ballistic vest.
Deputies learned Salzman had a handgun and threatened deputies with a "show down" when they arrived. The mother was told to leave the home for her safety and she climbed out a bathroom window.
The first deputy to arrive saw Salzman standing behind a pickup truck pointing what appeared to be a rifle at him.
The deputy fired two shots from his patrol rifle, which led Salzman to surrender. Salzman was not hit or injured during the incident.
Detectives responded and found a wooden rifle stock without a barrel and determined that was what Salzman had pointed at the responding deputy.
Salzman was arrested for aggravated assault on a peace officer.
He also received an additional charge of criminal damage after kicking a door at the substation.
He was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.
