ATF K-9 attacked by pit bull while serving search warrant

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A K-9 with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was attacked by a pit bull while agents were serving a search warrant on the south west side.
Carlos Canino, a spokesman with ATF tells KGUN9 the agents were at a home Thursday on South Mission Road between Silverlake Road and 36th Street serving a search warrant for firearms and drugs.
Bora, one of ATF's K-9's based out of Dallas, found the suspect hiding in the home.
After the suspect was detained, agents were trying to secure a pit bull, but the dog got out and attacked Bora.
Canino says the agents had no choice but to shoot the pit bull to get the dog off of Bora.
Both dogs were immediately taken to a veterinarian but the pit bull did not survive.
Bora received stitches for multiple lacerations and puncture wounds but he was released and will be flying back to Dallas Thursday night.
