Tucson flu season update

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - This year's flu season is far from over.
Many people in Tucson are fighting a tough strain of the virus, a strain even more vigorous than the rest.
Patients with the influenza AH3N2 strain, have higher fevers, longer coughs, and just feel more sick than those who are suffering from the other flu strains.
The CDC says flu cases have reached epidemic levels in many states, but not Arizona.
This may be good news, but we're still being hit hard. It looks like we still have some time before we can say the season's over.
"The flu season here in Arizona is about two weeks behind the rest of the country, that's very typical. So, East coast just peaked their experience this week. We probably have another two weeks to go of further cases, more numbers, before we reach the middle of our season," said Dr. Sean Elliot with the University of Arizona Health Network.
Dr. Elliott told 9OYS this year's vaccine is a good mach for the flu strain out there now.
It's not too late to get your flu shot, it could be your best bet to staying healthy.
