TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Rural/Metro Fire Department crews responded to a fire in a portion of the La Paloma Resort around 10:30 p.m. Monday night.
Upon arriving at the scene, units faced heavy smoke coming from the roof line. The area on fire was under renovation and not occupied.
In a news release, Captain Grant Cesarek said that sprinklers kept the flames from spreading into an adjacent room, but the fire was traveling the interior walls. A ladder crew from Mountain Vista Fire District was ordered to the roof to ventilate the heated gases, while one of the RMFD interior crews simultaneously extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The damages are currently estimated at $10,000.
