TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - It was like a scene you see in a movie: a man surrounded by cops tries to dig his way out. But, this isn't Hollywood, and instead of a light at the end of a tunnel, Adam Lyle Lohse's creation led to a bathtub.

"It just shows how desperate he really was to try to get away," Detective Jesus Banuelos told 9 on Your side, "I mean, at this point, it shows that he knew he was going to be in a lot of trouble."

And he was right. Detective Banuelos says the sheriff's office was tipped off that Lohse was up to no good and was staying at a Best Western on Oracle Road.

After his failed attempt to flee on Thursday, he was arrested, and detectives were able to get inside.

"There was jewelry, there was credit cards, social security cards, passports."

Detectives took over 300 pictures of all the items allegedly stolen, including a class ring, a gun and even teeth.

They were all remnants of alleged crimes spanning from Sierra Vista to Cochese County.

"We were able to reach out to other departments that helped us connect him to several other cases."

So, the alleged bad guy was caught. But, like any good movie, there are lessons to be learned.

The first, if you have a tip on a crime, share it.

Detective Banuelos said, "We never really know where information's going to come from that's going to lead to an arrest like this."

The second lesson, take an inventory of all your valuables. So, if they do end up in a pile of other stole items like in this case, it will be easier to get everything back to you.

"Have pictures of these items, " Banuelos said, "Something that we can use to try to identify them later, if they are found."

And finally, remember. Life isn't like a movie all the time. Digging your way out of your problems isn't always the way to go.
