Flagstaff council decides against selling property

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The Flagstaff City Council has responded to public protests by scrapping part of a proposal to sell four pieces of city-owned property to raise money to pay for building a new courthouse.
The council voted 4-3 Tuesday night to not sell a 20-acre parcel at the corner of Schultz Pass and Elden Lookout roads.
According to the Arizona Daily Sun, the council backed off from selling the property after hearing complaints that hikers and other use the site as a staging area and that the proposal hadn't been adequately discussed.
The council delayed the sale of a 26-parcel to hear public comment but approved the sale of two empty firehouses.
