Hearing set for Ariz. boy on probation violations

ST. JOHNS, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona judge on Wednesday is expected to consider sending a send a boy who pleaded guilty to negligent homicide to a group home for continued court-ordered treatment.
The now 13-year-old boy has been at a Phoenix-area residential treatment center for nearly three years. He was brought back to court recently because of probation violations.
The boy was 8 years old when he pleaded guilty to killing his father's friend in St. Johns, and prosecutors dropped a murder charge against him in his father's death.
Probation officials have been looking into two Phoenix-area group homes after foster care and a school for troubled boys essentially were ruled out.
Superior Court Judge Monica Stauffer says moving the boy to a group home would help him build on improvements he's made.
