TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - An alarming number of children are reported missing each year. While most are found -- many are not.

That's why Pima Community College and the Arizona Freemasons teamed up Saturday to help parents protect their children.

They handed out free child identification kits at the downtown campus. The kit includes fingerprints, a color photo, a recorded interview and a DNA sample collected by a cheek swab.

Only the child's family will keep the identification materials and information.

"With the kit were are providing we can make out as many printouts they'd like to," said Gustavo Portillo, coordinator for AZCHIP.  "They can give them to their family members so everybody in their family can have the same information. And they are prepared to provide information to the police officers and other agencies."

If you missed this one, the Freemason's Arizona Child Identification Program is held multiple times a year.
