SAN DIEGO (KGUN9-TV) Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt interviewed with the San Diego Chargers Saturday to discuss the team's head coaching vacancy.
Whisenhunt told chargers.com that he appreciates the atmosphere of San Diego's stadium and loyal fans. "Every time I've played (the Chargers), they've been good football teams and we had battles whether I was in the AFC or NFC. Playing here at this stadium, it's always been a tough place to play."
The newly released coach also admires the Spanos family.
"A couple years ago they came out for a week when they had the fires out here and used our facilities, so I had a chance to meet them," Whisenhunt said. "I think you have to have great respect for what they've done and how they brought this franchise along."
The Chargers are searching for a new head coach after releasing Norv Turner. Whisenhunt was released from the Cardinals franchise after coaching there for six seasons.
