TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Its mission is to help people find a job. Today, Goodwill of Southern Arizona has partnered with Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) to host a job fair Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the El Pueblo Education Center.

Next time you donate or make a purchase at a Goodwill of Southern Arizona Store, realize you may be helping someone else get back to work.

"Goodwill is well-known for its retail stores and donation centers, but what some people don't know is that the money we raise at the retail stores, that goes to our mission program," said Gary Swingle, a Goodwill marketing specialist. "And all of our mission programs are designed to help people either get job training or find a job."

"They have a model that I think many times those of us in government should sometimes replicate," Grijalva told 9 On Your Side.

While the policy work legislators do in Washington gets most of the attention, Grijalva said people often overlook the work they do in their own districts.

"We have an obligation to try to provide to our constituents that regardless of political affiliation, the opportunity to find a job and the best way this economy is going to turn around it to put people to work," he said.

There will be more than 40 employers from a variety of industries at today's job fair.

"From customer service jobs to retail positions, people can expect everywhere from entry level to mid-management and management positions available," Swingle said.

Goodwill's staff will also be there to help people with online job applications.

"That's just the trend now," Grijalva said. "Almost all employers are asking for online applications, that's how you submit your initial request."

The El Pueblo Education Center is located at 101 W. Irvington Rd., near Nogales Highway.

If you do go to the job fair today, make sure to bring copies of your resume. Goodwill job specialists will be there on-site to help you update and reformat your resume. Some employers will also conduct on-site interviews.
