TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 19-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident Wednesday morning.
Deputy Tom Peine with Pima County Sheriff tells KGUN9 that around 10:15 a.m., deputies received a 9-1-1 call about a pedestrian accident near Sunrise and Swan.
Investigators learned that witnesses reported seeing a young male step into the roadway prior to him being hit. When Makansi entered the roadway, a Ford truck swerved to avoid him. Makansi ended up underneath the truck and was rolled over.
Further investigation revealed this was an intentional act by the deceased.
The 60-year-old driver of the truck was not cited. He was going below the speed limit and alcohol was not a factor.
Peine says Makansi was a suspect in a sheriff's department's criminal investigation, involving property crime, but could not give any further details.
