9OYS First Warning Weather
Coolest temperatures in 2 years to come
Meteorologist: Aaron Brackett
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Another strong weather system is set to impact southern Arizona by week's end. Look for warm weather Wednesday and Thursday as the storm comes ashore. Highs will waver around the 70 degree point on the nose of the incoming trough.
Thursday, wind speeds will increase and gust to 35 mph with additional clouds. Showers and high elevation snow showers should begin Thursday night with lowering snow levels Friday morning. At this time, the moisture looks to cut off just as temperatures approach freezing in the Tucson area, so snow in the city is unlikely.
As the low departs, cool northwesterly flow will continue to keep our highs in the 40s - temperatures not seen since a high of 44 February 3rd, 2011.
Afternoon temperatures will not return to the 50s until early next week despite high pressure bringing back sunshine.
Tucson's normal high is in the middle 60s.
