PHOENIX (AP) - Prosecutors have shown bloody crime-scene photos in the Phoenix trial of a woman accused in the shooting and stabbing death of her boyfriend.
Jodi Arias could become the fourth female on Arizona's death row if she is convicted in the June 2008 killing of 30-year-old Travis Alexander.
Authorities say 32-year-old Arias shot Alexander in the face, stabbed him 27 times and slit his throat, then left him in a shower in his Mesa home.
In the third day of trial Tuesday, prosecutors showed photos of blood on bathroom tiles and a medical examiner explained wounds he found on Alexander during an autopsy.
Arias claims the killing was in self-defense. Prosecutors argue the actions were those of a jealous woman who brutally attacked Alexander after he tried to end their relationship.
