Deceased female found in wash identified, PCSD detains suspect
Deputies are investigating the circumstances surrounding a dead woman's body that was found in the Pantano Wash Tuesday evening.
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Pima County deputies have identified the woman found in the Pantano Wash Tuesday night as 51-year-old Debra Ann Scotko.
In a news release, Deputy Tom Peine said she was the victim of a homicide. 49-year-old Michael Donald Norris was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on a charge of first degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
Peine said someone called 9-1-1 to report that a woman was in distress in the wash around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies responded to the scene and found the body of a dead woman in the wash, according to Peine.
Peine told KGUN9 that the woman was in her 50s.
A man seen leaving the area is now in police custody and investigators are calling him a suspect in her death.
Following the initial investigation, deputies detained a person of interest who was later identified as Norris.
