TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A gun buy-back event is taking place Tuesday at the TPD substation near 22nd and Alvernon.

Officers are on-site to take back guns that citizens want to hand in. In exchange, citizens will receive a $50 Safeway Food Store gift card.

TPD is taking pictures and looking up serial numbers to determine the origins of the weapons. Serial numbers will be tracked through appropriate databases to identify weapons reported as lost or stolen, or that may be implicated in any criminal activity.

9 On Your Side has a reporter at the event. Stay with KGUN9 News online and at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. for updates on the buy-back.
