NEWTOWN, Conn. (KGUN9-TV) - Despite the cold temperatures, there is a warmth here you can feel, kind of like a hug from an old friend.  That is the feeling inside a bed and breakfast where volunteers prepare to wrap their arms around this town.

With a quick motion, the wheels are in motion on a kindess project not even Ben's Bells has done before.

The Tucson non-profit brought a team of volunteers to Newtown and volunteers from all over the U.S. brought 1,000 bells. 

And on this Monday, the love and friendship in a room at a local Bed and Breakfast is something you can truly feel.  For in this room aren't just Tucsonans, but neighbors of Newtown.

"To see this in my community is very bittersweet," says Carrie Hunnicutt, who lived in Tucson for years, lived through January 8 and now as a resident of Newtown sees hope.

"To me hope is about resilience," says Hunnicutt.

Jenny, a Newtown mom turned volunteer who wishes only that Ben's Bells might've been here in better times.

"I'm a little sad," she said.

So as one new firend reaches out to another, they bridge a gap between a very dark time and a much brighter, Ben's Bells colored future.

From a symbol of freedom, to a symbol of hope and the most sincere gesture of kindness, the people of Tucson and Newtown come together in the ultimate show of support.
