Two young teens burglarize school, damage pool house

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two young teens broke into a local junior high school, stealing several items and doing extensive damage to the property. 
 
Deputies responded to the Flowing Wells Junior High School at around 12:45 p.m. Sunday after someone called 9-1-1 to report that two people were on the roof of the school, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department. 
 
Peine tells KGUN9 that upon arrival deputies observed two juveniles matching the callers description near a chain link fence of the school. The two juveniles, one 13-years-old and the other 14-years-old, ran off, but were located and detained a short time later. 
 
During the initial investigation, deputies found a fire extinguisher, a generator on a wheeled cart and two air tanks outside of a gate in the fence. Additionally, deputies noticed damage to some of the gates in the chain link fence, Peine says.
 
The principal of the school drove to the school and gave deputies access to the inside of the building. Once inside, they found that a water faucet had been turned on, flooding a storage room in the pool house. Deputies also noticed that it appeared a fire extinguisher had been set off inside the room, according to Peine. 
 
On top of the building, two exhaust fans of the pool house appeared to have been forcefully removed, leaving holes in the roof. Deputies determined that the juveniles slid down the roof holes using a yellow rope that was found tied to a nearby pole, Peine says.
 
According to Peine, evidence found at the scene and observations made by responding deputies tied the detained juveniles to the incident. They were taken in for further questioning before being released to their parents. 
 
Both were charged with third-degree burglary and aggravated criminal damage, Peine said.
