TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man found human remains while hunting in the desert Sunday afternoon.
A hunter called 9-1-1 to report finding a human skull in a desert area near Manville Road and Sandario Road at around 2:00 p.m., according to Monica Torralba with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and found that the skull was fully intact and didn't have signs of trauma, Torralba said.
Torralba also tells KGUN9 that the skull appears to be that of an adult and has a full set of teeth, which may help medical examiners identify the skull.
During the investigation, deputies were unable to find a body and there is no evidence to suggest that the skull is connected to an outstanding case, according to Torralba.
The skull has been transferred to the medical examiners office where the investigation will continue.
KGUN 9 will update the story when new details become available.
