TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police arrested a man in connection with the second deadly shooting at an eastside strip club.
Sgt. Maria Hawke with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that Daniel A. Rodriguez, 32, was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of dischargina firearm at an occupied structure in furtherance of a gang, one count of prohibited possessor and one count of tampering with evidence.
Police once again responded to the Ten's Showclub, located in the 5100 block of east Speedway Blvd, after another shooting occurred in the parking lot just after 2:00 a.m. Sunday, according to Sgt. Maria Hawke with the Tucson Police Department..
Once on scene, officers found 32-year-old Anthony Holguin suffering from obvious gun shot wounds, Hawke said.
Hawke tells KGUN9 that the man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries. No one else was injured during the incident.
The shooting marks the second at the showclub in less than two weeks.
The back-to-back violence has nearby neighbors feeling uneasy.
"Yeah, we heard something last night. We hear something at least once or twice a week. It seems to be the police helicopter and all the sirens and everything, we hear it, it seems like almost constantly at night," Jennifer Scholtman, who has lived in the neighborhood for seven years, told 9OYS.
"I would like to say that it surprises me but it seems to be such a regular thing now," Scholtman continued.
Sharyl Ash is another longtime Rosemont resident. She's lived in the area for 30 years.
"Rosemont has always been a busy street but I've never had any trouble as far as crime or anything. Until now," Ash said.
After the shots were fired, witnesses saw a white, sport utility vehicle speed away from the scene. First responding officers also saw the vehicle as it was fleeing and followed it. The vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of east Rosewood and north Magnolia where an unknown number of occupants fled from the vehicle, according to Hawke.
With the assistance of a K9 Unit, one man, who was believed to have been in the SUV, was located in the 800 block of north Rosemont. The man is being detained for investigative purposes, Hawke says.
Following the initial investigation, officers learned that an altercation occurred between two different groups in the parking lot of the Ten's Showclub. The verbal fight quickly escalated to a physical fight and ended with several shots being fired, Hawke says.
Detectives from the Gang Investigations Unit responded to assist with the investigation after someone on scene indicated that at least one of the involved parties may have had gang affiliations, according to Hawke.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the initial altercation and the identity of all people involved in the incident. If you have any information about the shooting, police ask that you call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
