TUCSON (KGUN9 - TV) - The stockings are unstuffed and the gifts are unwrapped, but maybe it's not exactly what you wanted.

The day after Christmas is one of the busiest return and exchange days of the year. Other shoppers will flock to the malls and stores for post-Christmas deals.

Before you head out the door, make sure to check the store's website because return and exchange policies vary. At some stores, the time period for returning more expensive electronic products is shorter than other items.

If you're hoping to get full credit, retail experts say return the gift unopened with all of its packaging.

If you run into any issues while returning a gift, try to contact a store manager or customer service representative.

And if you're looking to speed up the process, retail experts say bring the gift receipt with you if the gift giver included it. Having the gift receipt with you also ensures you will get full credit back in case the store has since discounted the product after the holiday.
