TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A call about a car fire turns even more serious when agents and firefighters see what looks like it could be a suspicious device.
Sheriff's deputies and firefighters from the Rural Metro Fire Department responded to the parking lot of the Loews Vantana Canyon Resort just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday after calls about a car on fire, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
Peine tells KGUN9 that shortly after firefighters extinguished the fire, agents noticed something about the car that seemed suspicious. The Bomb Squad was then called to the scene to investigate the suspicious contents of the car.
The Bomb Squad was quickly able to determine that the car was safe and that there were no incendiary devices inside the vehicle, according to Peine.
The car has been impounded and the Pima County Sheriff's Department's Arson Unit is continuing the investigation.
