TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a tree on the northside early Monday morning.
Sheriff's deputies with the Foothills district responded to Ina Road and Avenida De Lisa after a Jeep Cherokee left the roadway and hit a Palo Verde tree at around 4:30 a.m. Monday, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
The driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old Thomas Lorock, was transported to University of Arizona Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, according to Peine.
Investigators with the Sheriff's Traffic Unit also responded to the scene and noted that there were no skid marks on the road indicating that the driver tried to prevent the collision, Peine says.
Investigators also noted that the driver appeared to be driving at or below the speed limit and that alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
