SIERA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a decomposing body was found in a wash south of Sierra Vista.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas says two women called deputies Wednesday afternoon saying they had found human remains. Deputies walked into the wash and found a group of rocks making an arrow and pointing toward the body.
Capas says it isn't clear who made the arrow, but detectives don't believe the victim was an illegal immigrant. Migrant groups who have a member die crossing the desert have marked body locations in the past.
The person was dressed in brown work boots, dark jeans and a shirt and was significantly decomposed.
The remains were taken to the Pima County Medical Examiner's office an autopsy to determine identity and cause of death.
