Jan. 8th anniversary events, memorial planning updates will be announced

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Four groups formed after the January 8, 2011 shooting will announce its plans for the second anniversary of the tragedy and the effort to build a permanent memorial to it.
The groups -- the January 8th Memorial Foundation, BEYOND, the Fund for Civility, Respect and Understanding, and the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation -- will be joined by representatives from the City of Tucson and Pima County for the announcement at 2 p.m., Dec. 18 at Duval Auditorium, University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell Avenue.
The groups will announce an overview of numerous anniversary-related activities scheduled to take place early next month at locations throughout the Tucson area.
The briefing on the permanent memorial will outline the broad goals of the community effort to honor the victims and heroes of the shooting.
