TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two families received help from the Red Cross after house fires Sunday morning.

A spokesman with the Red Cross tells KGUN9 that the first fire took place in the 7700 block of John Paul Jones at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Rural/Metro Fire responded to the single family home that is now considered not habitable.

One man lived there with his two pets. The Red Cross has provided him with a hotel.

The second fire took place in the 60,000 block of Alpine Way at about 11 a.m. Sunday.

Golder Ranch Fire District crews responded to the home where heavy black smoke was coming from the front.

The original 911 call from the resident of the home said that she saw fire coming from under her dryer, but the cause is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the two adults and two dogs who lived there by providing them with a hotel and replacing medications.
