WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House says President Barack Obama has been briefed on a shooting at a Connecticut elementary school Friday morning.

Press Secretary Jay Carney says the president was first informed about the incident by his counterterrorism adviser John Brennan. Carney says Obama will continue to receive regular updates throughout the day.

Carney would not confirm any details about the shooting.

The White House says the FBI is supporting state and local law enforcement officials in Connecticut as they respond to and investigate the incident.
